NADEZHDA MARINCHEVSKA

BIOGRAPHY

Nadezhda Marinchevska, professor and PhD
is a film critic and a long-standing researcher
of animation films. She graduated in film
studies from the former All-Union State
Institute of Cinematography (present day
Gerassimov State Institute of Cinematography)
in Moscow, Russia. She works at
the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences as head of the Screen
Arts Department. Nadezhda Marinchevska
teaches “History of Animation” and “Animation
Film Dramaturgy” at the National
Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo
Sarafov” and leads a course in “Audiovisual
Language” at the New Bulgarian University.
Nadezhda Marinchevska is an author of
the books Bulgarian Animation 1915-1995
(2001), and Frames of Imagination.
Aesthetics of Animation Techniques (2005).
In 2006 she won the film theory award
granted by the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers
(UBFM) for her second book. She is
the author of numerous publications in the
area of animation films. She is a member
of UBFM, of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists,
the Society for Animation Studies and
the International Federation of Film Critics
FIPRESCI. She was a member of the juries
of FIPRESCI at the international festivals in
Annecy, France (in 2004 and 2008), Leipzig,
Germany (2006), Krakow, Poland (2007),
Athens, Greece (2008), Saraevo, Bosnia and
Herzegovina (2009).
